When we are no longer able to change a situation we are challenged to change ourselves.
— Victor Frankl

About

Real and hoped for change is possible but I believe is related to our capacity, supported in treatment, to look deeply and honestly into ourselves. My goal is to support my clients' their own capacity towards self-understanding and, in turn, self-actualization. We may hope for the capacity for change to be simply a matter of new tools. But I believe it relies on a reconfiguration of the patterns we have established over many years for whom new tools only fall into well-worn tracks.  As a psychodynamic therapist and psychoanalyst-in-training I am committed to helping my clients venture forth from a single prerequisite starting point: curiosity.

Clinical Focus

The goals of both psychodynamic and psychoanalytic treatment are multiple and complex.  In many respects, these forms of therapy - evolved over time since Freud, are generative and they occur within the setting of the therapy relationship itself.  Insights are not simply aimed at the development of skills for change through techniques. My clinical focus helps clients foster self-exploration. Discovering one's emotional blind spots and relationship patterns which are instrumental in leading to real and lasting changes from the inside out. The access gained in unearthing unconscious patterns and motivations shaped by one's individual past builds self-knowledge.  The capacity to be truly authentic in relation to the world and to others becomes possible.
